Church Provides Books for Haitian School

St. Andrew United Methodist Church helped raise money for books for a Christian school in Port-au-Prince.

Members of in Northeast Cobb recently banded together to provide some much-needed books to the children who attend Andrew Christian School in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

“Andrew Christian School is the result of a visioning trip taken by Resendez and Garrett McCreery seven years ago,” said Marcie Millholland, director of Children’s Ministries at St. Andrew UMC. “They returned, shared the great need for Christian schools in Haiti, and involved the St. Andrew UMC congregation in the creation and building of the school.”

The new shipment of books was purchased from the book drive fundraiser at St. Andrew UMC. These books arrived at Andrew Christian School in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, this week. These will be the first books, written in French, that many of these children will see.

They were delivered by St. Andrew UMC member Carol Haisten, who is on a medical mission trip in Haiti with Dr. Lee Jacobs and his team. “St. Andrew continues to help support the school, which has provided a Christian education to more than 900 children since its first class,” Millholland added. “Sometimes, the school also provides the only daily meal the children receive that day.”
