Weekend Pigskin Roundup

Each Monday we'll take a look at what happened on the gridiron over the weekend in Northeast Cobb Patch.

High school football is back and now every team in the area has at least one game under its belt. Here’s a brief look at the football action from the weekend in Northeast Cobb Patch

Hillgrove 41, Sprayberry 21 – The Yellow Jackets found out Friday just why the University of Alabama signed Hillgrove running back Kenyan Drake. The senior rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns and was an unstoppable force for Sprayberry’s defense. Quarterback Corbin Jackson threw for 89 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 32 yards and a score, but ’s most electrifying moment came on a 95-yard kickoff return by Tye Richardson to get the Yellow jackets on the board.

Had the Yellow Jackets not spotted Hillgrove 21 points at the beginning of the game, the game would have been close to nail-biter status. Sprayberry actually outscored Hillgrove in the second half, 14-13.
