After the game, Walton coach Rocky Hidalgo was rewewing the "Super Bowl of East Cobb" reference he dropped before last year's regular season meeting with Lassiter.
“Lassiter and Walton can’t stand each other, so we’re going to go over there and play our tails off and do everything we can to win that game," he said in the Cherokee Tribune.
In another Region 5-AAAAAA game, Wheeler fell in its Homecoming game, as Milton rolled to a 34-13 win. The Wildcats (3-2, 0-2) have lost two games in a row after a strong start.
Sprayberry also was playing its Homecoming game, and the visitors spoiled it Sequoyah got the game-winning touchdown in the final two minutes in a 41-34 contest. The Yellow Jackets are 1-4 on the season.
Their two East Cobb rivals in Region 7B-AAAAA rolled to easy victories Friday. Pope got 175 yards rushing and three touchdowns from Ron Woods to crush Cambridge 49-7 as the Greyhounds improved to 3-2.
Kell had no trouble with North Springs, winning a 48-0 rout that pushed the Longhorns to 4-1 on the season.
