In Isom’s case, the problem isn’t the kicking but the tackling, Miles told the newspaper. “We count on our kicker making some tackles, and it's just not something I'm comfortable she's ready to do.”

At 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds of muscle, Isom is about the same size as other LSU kickers, according to the official roster. Drew Alleman, who was the placekicker for the team in 2011 and will be a senior in the fall, is 5-foot-11 and 183 pounds, and starting punter Brad Wing is 6-3 and 184 pounds. James Hairston, who handled kickoffs, is 6 feet tall and 200 pounds.

Still, Miles welcomes Isom to keep working out with the team and to try again when practice starts in August, and that’s what she plans to do.

CBS This Morning is expected to run a story on Isom at 8:45 this morning on Channel 46 (Channel 9 on Comcast cable). (Update: The national story was broadcast at 8:48 a.m. and is embedded above.)
