Two girls finished in the top four to lead the Lady Trojans to fifth place in the AAAAA state cross-country championships Saturday in Carrollton, while the boys placed 12th in the AAAA race.
Marcie Merriman in third and Morgan Ainslie in fourth finished the 5K race less than a second apart for Lassiter and less than 10 seconds behind state champion Kaylee Isaacs of Harrison.
Also scoring for the Lady Trojans were Erin Verdeyen in 49th, Meredith Brito in 58th and Julie Gardiner in 59th.

For the Kell boys, Steven Summey in sixth was the top finisher.
Behind him came Logan Poteet in 73rd, Vidur Gopinath in 96th, Harry Archer in 104th and Grant Brazil in 109th.
