Lassiter Boys Ousted in State Lacrosse

The Kell and Sprayberry girls and Walton and Pope boys also fell in Saturday's quarterfinal action.

Another hearbreaking result for another No. 1-ranked Lassiter sports team. 

The boys lacrosse team battled through a weather delay and against a tough Centennial team on the road Saturday night, but could get no further than the second round of the Class 6A Georgia High School Association state playoffs. 

The Trojans' stellar season sended there, in a 13-12 loss.

Just like the football and boys soccer teams at Lassiter, the lacrosse team was considered a favorite heading into the postseason. 

Like their respective girls teams, in fact, Lassiter and Walton were on a collision course to meet in the semifinals.

Harrison knocked off Walton 8-6 to shatter any hopes of an all-East Cobb semifinal.

In Class 5A, Northview downed Pope, a state runner-up the last two years, by a 16-8 score. 

GIRLS LACROSSE

In the Class 5A girls bracket, two East Cobb-area schools were in action, but also were eliminated Saturday as McIntosh defeated Kell 11-7 and Starr's Mill ousted Sprayberry 12-7 in overtime. 

BOYS SOCCER

The Pope boys edged Windsor Forest 1-0 Saturday in the Class 5A quarterfinals, and will face McIntosh Wednesday in the semifinals. 

TENNIS FINALS

The Walton girls won their ninth state title in 10 seasons with a 3-2 win over Peachtree Ridge in Class 6A, while The Walker School swept the boys and girls finals in the Class 1A private schools bracket.
