Lassiter Boys Begin Soccer Quest

The top-ranked Trojans play at home Wednesday in their first round Class AAAAAA playoff game.

The Georgia High School Association's state soccer playoffs are underway, and teams from Cobb, Douglas and Paulding make up a significant number of teams in the field.

Teams from Cobb were ranked No. 1 in the latest Class AAAAAA polls -- the Lassiter boys and the Harrison girls -- but several others also are considered contenders for state championships.

The Lassiter boys are undefeated this season, boasting a perfect 16-0 record and have shut out 11 opponents. The Trojans, who last won a state title in 1996, will put that mark on the line at home Wednesday against South Gwinnett.
