Lassiter Booted from Baseball Playoffs

Meanwhile, the Lassiter Lady Trojans moved on in soccer, as did the Pope Greyhounds in boys lacrosse, and the Pope baseball team was extended to a decisive Game 3 today in its home series with Northgate.

Pope (23-7) won the first game of its best-of-three baseball series Wednesday, 10-5, but blew a 4-0 lead to lose Game 2, 5-4. Two errors in the bottom of the seventh inning led to the winning run for the Vikings, The Marietta Daily Journal said.

Reaching the AAAAA girls soccer quarterfinals Wednesday was Lassiter, which beat at home, 3-0. Marin Abousaud scored off a corner kick 30 minutes into the game for a 1-0 halftime lead, and Kaitlyn Sterling added a second-half goal, the Lassiter Athletics Twitter feed reported.

The Lady Trojans will host on Saturday.
