Kell's Langley Rated 19th in Nation

Nebraska is the latest big-time college football program to offer the junior cornerback a scholarship.

junior Brendan Langley is drawing attention across the Southeast and beyond as one of the top defensive football recruits in the nation in the class of 2013.

Rivals announced Monday that it rates Langley as the country’s 19th-best cornerback in his class and considers him a four-star recruit.

"Langley is a well-built cornerback that has terrific length and is a very good all-around athlete," Rivals recruiting analyst Keith Niebuhr said. "He knows how to use his size and strength well in coverage and does a nice job making a play on the ball. He reacts quickly in the secondary and possesses extremely good closing speed."

That ability has earned Langley scholarship offers from most of the SEC, including national champion Alabama and Georgia, which was first to offer him.

Those two schools took the early lead with Langley, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported this month, but at that point they were the only schools he had visited.

He did like the idea that Georgia might use him on offense as well as defense, the AJC said.

He also came away from a visit to Tuscaloosa last month impressed with the Crimson Tide, Alabama Intel reported.

Langley said he hopes to announce his school choice before practice for his senior season starts this summer, Alabama Intel added, and he’ll base that pick on which college he thinks will best prepare him for the NFL in three or four years.

Although Langley told the AJC he plans to play in the SEC, he’ll have the opportunity to go farther from his Northeast Cobb home if he wants to.

For example, traditional power Nebraska, now part of the Big Ten, offered him a scholarship last week, the Omaha World-Herald reported. The Cornhuskers’ new secondary coach, Terry Joseph, used to be the recruiting coordinator for Tennessee.
