Kell Remains Among the Unbeaten

Only eight high school football teams in Class AAAAA remain unbeaten as the second half of the season continues on Friday, and the Kell Longhorns are one of them.

Kell (6-0) ranked No. 3 in the latest state rankings in Class 5A, plays a Region 7B-AAAAA game against Osborne on Friday. Half of the Longhorns' wins have come against teams in Class 6A, including Northeast Cobb rival Lassiter.

Kell is also one of three unbeaten teams in Cobb, joining McEachern and Hillgrove, who are in Class 6A.

Today, Score Atlanta details the Longhorns' success this year under coach Derek Cook.

It's been three years since Kell got off to such a good start, and it comes after losing standouts Brendan Langley and Quincy Maugher, who are playing as freshmen defensive backs for the Georgia Bulldogs.

Kell's defense is just as rugged this year, and the players to watch are lineman Ethan Elliott and defensive back Elliott Henkle, who has announced he will play college football at Kennesaw State.
