The narrowly escaped defeat Friday night, pulling out a 13-8 win over the Osborne Cardinals at home.
Both Kell and Osborne primarily executed a running game throughout the entire contest after both teams struggled early in the passing game.Β With just under seven minutes remaining in the first quarter, Kellβs quarterback, Clay Dodson, threw an interception.Β Fifteen seconds later on the very next play, Osborneβs quarterback, Jahmari Townes threw the ball back into Kellβs possession.Β
The second quarter began with Kellβs Tyler Prince kicking a field goal for the Longhorns.Β It wouldnβt take long for the Longhorns to tack on more, with Michael Valero breaking several tackles and running the ball into the end zone.Β

Kell would have another opportunity to score before halftime, but their passing game failed yet again when Osborne intercepted the ball in the red zone.

The score remained the same until the early portion of the fourth quarter when Tyler Prince kicked Kellβs second field goal of the contest.Β Kellβs commanding lead soon started to falter as Osborneβs passing game suddenly improved with Jahmari Townes chucking it 40 yards to Nyiakki Height to the 1-yard line.Β The Cardinals scored the touchdown and then successfully completed a 2-point conversion, bringing the score to 13-8.
The final minutes of the fourth quarter were intense as Osborne attempted to mount a comeback against the Longhorns.Β The Cardinals managed to drive the ball all the way to the red zone with just a minute and a half remaining in the game, but penalties would ultimately push them back out and force them to give the ball back to the Longhorns after a failed fourth down attempt to score.
