Kell Girls Basketball Ranked No. 5

The Lady Longhorns have four games remaining in the regular season.

The Lady Longhorns of Kell High School are ranked No. 5 in this week's Class AAAAA state rankings and are streaking as the regular season winds down.

Kell is 15-2 on the season and 8-2 in Region 7B-AAAAA, a half-game behind first-place Osborne (17-4, 9-2).

The Lady Longhorns, who have won five games in a row, have four games remaining in the regular season, including local rivals in Pope (15-6, 7-3) and Sprayberry (16-6, 6-5).

Among Kell's wins this season include four against Class AAAAAA teams, including Lassiter, Marietta and North Cobb, which as The Marietta Daily Journal reported earlier this month, was ranked second at the time.

Kell sophomore forward Caliya Robinson is already getting significant recruiting attention from major colleges, and is one of the top-ranked players nationwide in her class.

On Friday the Lady Longhorns will play at Sprayberry, which won at Kell earlier in the season, before meeting Pope and Cambridge next week.

The Lassiter High School girls team has been struggling this season, with a 9-11 overall record and 3-7 in in Region 5-AAAAAA. But the Lady Trojans, who play at Milton tonight, have won two in a row, defeating Pope in double overtime Saturday and Walton last week.
