Is Kell Up to the Lassiter Challenge?
The No. 3 Longhorns play host to their Northeast Cobb rivals as high school football resumes Friday.
They're ranked anywhere from No. 3 to No. 7 in statewide Class 5A polls, but the Kell Longhorns would love more than anything to be the rulers of their own domain.
Kell will get that chance Friday when it plays host to Lassiter at 7:30 p.m. in a game that will be shown live on wsbtv.com.
The game is a non-region affair. The Longhorns are 2-0 after routing Woodstock 42-21.
And the Trojans, unranked Class 6A, in evened their record at 1-1 last week after beating Sprayberry 41-23.
But Kell is mindful of what happened last year against the Trojans: Lassiter 42, Longhorns 13.
In other games Friday night:
- Pope (0-2) seeks its first win at Etowah (2-0);
- Wheeler (2-0) looks to remain unbeaten in its home opener against Langston Hughes (1-1).
- Walton (0-2) also has its home opener against North Cobb (2-0), ranked No. 4 in Class 6A.
- Sprayberry (0-3) is off.
