Region 5-AAAA champ Pope had a much easier time in its opening AAAA playoff game, crushing , 9-0. The Lady Greyhounds will play host to McIntosh, a 10-0 winner over Tri-Cities, in Round 2 next Wednesday.

At Kell, Longhorn fans were treated to one nail-biter and one easy win during a girls-boys doubleheader.

The Lady Longhorns needed a 4-2 edge in a penalty-kick shootout to knock off Lakeside-DeKalb after the teams were tied at 1 after regulation and overtime, but the 5-AAAA champion boys cruised to a 4-0 win over Chamblee in the second game.

Kell's girls will hit the road Wednesday to play Whitewater, an 11-0 winner over Morrow. Kell's boys will be home Tuesday against Starr's Mill, which beat Jonesboro, 10-0.
