Former Lassiter Star Receives SEC Honors

Tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen was named on the 2011 SEC Coaches Preseason All-SEC Team.

Former standout Philip Lutzenkirchen, now a tight end at Auburn University, was named to the 2011 SEC Coaches Preseason All-SEC Team today.

Lutzenkirchen is listed on the third-team offensive unit and is one of seven Auburn football players to be recognized.

Last season, Lutzenkirchen set the Auburn record for touchdowns by a tight end with five trips into the end zone. Heading into his junior season, Lutzenkirchen has already tallied seven touchdowns in his career, ranking him second on the all-time list for tight ends at Auburn.

This is the second time Lutzenkirchen has been honored with preseason accolades in July. On July 6, Lutzenkirchen was listed on the 2011 Mackey Award Watch List, and award given out to the nation’s best tight end in college football.
