Former pitcher Adam Morgan was selected in the third round of the Major League Baseball Draft Tuesday. The junior left-hander was taken by the Philadelphia Phillies with the 120th overall pick.
For the last three years, Morgan pitched at the University of Alabama where he compiled a 16-14 record and made 47 appearances. He was 5-7 with a 4.64 ERA this year and led the Southeastern Conference with 18 starts.
“For any team to take me in the third round as their top three picks, it’s just amazing,” Morgan said. “You work so hard all your life for this opportunity. I’m really excited that the Phillies picked me.”
