Kell took an undefeated record into its quarterfinal game of the AAAA state football playoffs at home Friday night against twice-beaten Statesboro. The Longhorns led 7-3 at halftime but trailed 10-7 going into the fourth quarter. Three crucial fourth-quarter plays meant the end of Kell's dream season: being stopped inches short on a fourth-down play early in the fourth quarter at the Statesboro 6-yard line; giving up a 91-yard touchdown run a couple of plays later; and failing again on fourth down at the Statesboro 6 in the waning minutes.
