It wasn't much of a surprise to anyone when the Marietta Daily Journal named Campbell High School safety and running back Cobb County's Player of the Year in 2013. What might be surprising to the uninitiated is just how good the 6-foot-1, 190 lb. senior was this season.

In his 2013 campaign on both sides of the ball, Rogers racked up 27 touchdowns, three interceptions, five forced fumbles, and 1,735 rushing yards in only 10 games.

Rogers, who originally hails from Chicago, committed to the University of Central Florida over the summer before leading the Spartans to a 4-6 record during the 2013 season. He expects to play on the defensive side of the ball in the UCF Knights' secondary as either a safety or corner back.

Rogers' coach Harris Rainbow told the MDJ that as a Cobb lifer, he had never seen a better football player take the gridiron in the county.

The Spartans dominated on Oct. 25, Homecoming Night, waxing Kennesaw Mountain 84-0, but Rogers was the star of the show; he accumulated 397 rushing yards and cashed in four touchdowns.

The UCF Knights will kick off the 2014 season in Dublin, Ireland, facing off against the Penn State Nittany Lions on 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 30. You will be able to catch the game on ESPN2.
