On Friday, February 7th, Congregation Ner Tamid met at the Cheatham Hill Community Center to celebrate its 3rd annual Scout Shabbat.   In attendance were Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Webelos and Boy Scouts from all over Cobb County.

The service started with a Flag ceremony led by all scouting groups followed by the Pledge of Allegience. Scouts then followed by reciting the Cub and Boy Scout promise and Oath and Girl Scout Promise and Oath. Rabbi Thomas Liebschutz led the service which included English readings throughout the service by individual and group scout participants. A Torah reading was included where all had the chance to come up to view our sacred scrolls.

Mr. John Lyon, a leader with Atlanta Area Scouting Council, spoke to the Congregation and visitors about "Duty to God" and the importance of being reverent (one of the points of the Scout Law). All Scout participants received a customized 2014 Scout Shabbat Patch presented by Scout Shabbat coordinator, Amy Berris. The service also included the Jewish Naming of Cub Scouts, Hayden and Noah Moore, the children of members Gerald and Erin Moore. A wonderful Oneg followed.
