Sprayberry Fine Arts Teacher Earns State Honors

Evelyn Champion was recently awarded the "String Educator of the Year" award for the State of Georgia.

The "String Educator of the Year" award was presented to Evelyn Champion, Sprayberry High School Orchestra director and A.P. music theory teacher for 8 years, by the American String Teacher’s Association at the Georgia Music Educators Association Conference in Savannah.

Mrs. Champion earned the award for her reputation as an outstanding orchestra director, as well as for her continual involvement in the professional music community throughout the State of Georgia as a judge, mentor, teacher, conductor, and leader.

For the past two years, Champion has served as the State Orchestra Division chair
for the Georgia Music Educators Association. She has organized the All State Orchestras, the music teacher’s Conference, and handled many other important tasks and events for statewide events.
