Sprayberry Completes the Winter Sports Season

What's happening in Sprayberry High School athletics.

The Sprayberry High School completed the winter sports seasons with the basketball and wrestling teams achieving success once again. The Lady Jackets wilted to Creekview High School in the state AAAA tournament. It was the Jackets’ third trip to the state tournament in the last five years. The boys team finished its season 4th in the region and lost a state tournament qualifying game against Chapel Hill High School. The boys finished with a 16-10 record for the year.

The wrestling team completed its season by sending three wrestlers to the state AAAA wrestling tournament at the Gwinnett Arena. Senior Brett Haley was the most dominant Sprayberry wrestler this year with a Cobb County, Region, and Sectional Championship to his credit. Brett’s sectional wrestling championship was particularly exciting as it happened in quadruple overtime. Also qualifying for the state tournament were Colin Shalk (4th at Sectionals) and Thomas Cook
(6th at Sectionals).

Congratulations to the following football athletes who were present at the National Signing Day Party. Below is the name of the athlete and who he signed with:

Sprayberry’s campus is teeming with activity as students prepare for spring sports. The soccer and lacrosse teams are enjoying practices, while baseball, track, tennis and golf all get spring play underway.

And lastly, the new SPLOST-funded turf project is completed in the Sprayberry High School stadium. Teams are already christening the turf with victories.
