Lassiter Students to Help Build Food Pantry

High functioning special needs students at Lassiter will be buying the supplies for a food pantry to serve Area 4 of the Cobb School District.

Students at and a local non-profit organization are joining forces to establish a Save it Forward Food Pantry for Area 4 of the .

Save it Forward is an Atlanta-area organization that uses coupons to feed hungry children and their families. Students in Lassiter's MID Program of high functioning special needs youth will be learning administrative skills, how to shop and how to stock food as well as providing meals for their needy peers.

MID Program students have already begun setting up shopping envelopes and are prepared to make their first excursion to the grocery store once they secure transportation.

The Dorner Sunday School Class at will be setting up the physical equipment in the pantry itself during October's Love Loud Project, but Save it Forward will be in charge of the operations of the pantry.
