Lassiter Splits Opening Games of 2nd Round

Both teams win one game in a doubleheader at Lassiter.

Brookwood, the No. 2 seed from Region 8-AAAAA, and , the No. 1 seed from Region 5-AAAAA, each took one game in the best-of-three baseball series on Wednesday to start the second round of the GHSA 5A State Baseball Tournament.

The Trojans won Game 1, 3-1, behind a 3-for-3 performance by right fielder Andy Rief, who had three singles and drove in a run.

Lassiter lost Game 2, 11-6, and were lead by Jared Aarons. The center fielder was 2-for-3 with a walk and two singles.

The series will be decided on Thursday when the teams play the rubber match at Lassiter High School at 6 p.m.
