The Northeast Cobb school is the first in Cobb to be recognized by The Alliance for a Healthier Generation.

Press release:

Keheley Elementary School announced today that The Alliance for a Healthier Generation, founded by the American Heart Association and the Clinton Foundation, recognized Keheley for transforming its campus into a healthier place for students and staff.

Keheley received a Bronze Award for its level of achievement. Keheley is the first school in Cobb County to receive this award.

“Keheley is thrilled to have been recognized in this way,” Principal Liz Jackson said. “The staff, students and parents at Keheley are excited to be a part of an alliance that encourages us to work together and support each other in making healthier choices.”

"Keheley’s Wellness Committee, led by PE Teacher Stephanie Lawson, Cafeteria Manager Renee Musselwhite and School Nurse Susan Headrick, have promoted exercise and making healthy food choices with staff, students and families,” Jackson said.

“For our students, we know that exercise and nutrition are directly related to academic performance. For all of us, food choices and exercise enhance our physical and mental health. We are proud of the gains individuals in our school community have made and we love celebrating our successes.”

Keheley Elementary School was one of 267 schools from around the country honored at the Healthy Schools Program Forum at the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, Ark.

To earn the National Recognition Award Keheley Elementary School improved its nutrition services and physical activity programs to meet or exceed stringent standards set by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation’s Healthy Schools Program.
