Baked Goods Needed for Lidiane Carmo

A Sprayberry mom is asking for donations for a Friday fundraiser to benefit the Cobb girl who survived the Florida crash that killed her family.

Sabrina Webster, a mom, is asking for the community's help in donating baked goods for a Friday fundraiser.

The event will benefit Sprayberry freshman Lidiane Carmo, who survived a horrific crash involving at least nine other vehicles early Sunday on Interstate 75 near Gainesville, FL.

Her father, Kennesaw resident Jose Carmo, 43; his wife, Adrianna, 39; their first daughter, Leticia, 17; his brother, Edsom, 38; and Edsom's girlfriend, Roselia DeSilva, 41, died in the Interstate 75 wreck.

Lidiane, the only survivor from the church van her uncle drove, has improved from critical to fair condition, WSB-TV reported.

"We have had such an outcry for support that we can't keep up with our baked goods," Webster said in a statement to Northeast Cobb Patch.

The need is so desperate that the Sprayberry football team is selling the leftover cake from its college signing party Wednesday morning.

The front office has taken baked donations from community members and staff. It will continue to do so until Friday morning.

Webster asks that people wrap their donations for the sale. The high demand and lack of manpower leave no time for volunteers to wrap.

"Please tweet this to everyone you know. Post it on social networks. We are in great need of baked goods to meet the demand that Sprayberry students and staff have placed on helping the lone survivor of the family killed in the accident," she said.
