Special House Election Is Tuesday

Voters in state House District 43 will choose between two Republican candidates Tuesday in a special election runoff to fill the vacancy created by the July death of .

Northeast Cobb Patch published Q&A profiles of the runoff candidates: 

First-time candidate John Carson, an accountant with SunTrust Bank, edged out Lamutt in the September special election, which involved five candidates. His camp will be at at Shallowford and Sandy Plains roads Tuesday night to wait for election results.

Lamutt's camp has not confirmed a location where the former state senator and his supporters will congregate for election results.

A total of 14 precincts in Northeast Cobb and East Cobb will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (see attached PDF files for a sample ballot, district map and list of polling stations).

According to Beth Kish, registration manager at the Cobb County Board of Elections and Registration, 30,076 registered voters are eligible for the election.

There were 155 mailed ballots and 103 in-office ballots, totaling 258 votes, cast during last week's early voting, according to the Board of Elections.

Registered voters may vote Tuesday even if they did not vote in the special election last month.
