Construction on the new $17.3 milion Skip Spann connector begins Wednesday. Here's more from Cobb County Government:
The Town Center Area Community Improvement District will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the Skip Spann Connector 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 740 TownPark Lane, Kennesaw.
This $17 million project has gone from the idea phase to groundbreaking in record time. The Skip Spann Connector will be a new bridge over Interstate 75 north of Chastain Road, from Frey Road to Busbee Drive, that provides direct access from Kennesaw State University to the Town Center economic activity center.
The project will provide:
- Congestion relief and improved access at the Chastain Road and I-75 interchange, including a 19 percent reduction in daily traffic.
- Improved access from KSU to the northwest corridor managed lanes access ramps at Big Shanty and the Cobb Community Transit park and ride lots.
- Pedestrian and bicycle access between the KSU campus and stadium.
