Residents Struggle With Water Restrictions

Violating water restrictions could cost residents up to a $500 fine.

"Well, I recall water restrictions when we had a drought," said Northeast Cobb resident Sue Branson, as a sprinkler sputtered water onto her house's green lawn. "I wasn't aware we were still doing that."

A drive through Northeast Cobb subdivisions on Friday found many lawns being watered, proving that some residents aren't aware that the water restrictions are in place. They risk fines and water service disconnection for violation.

Warnings are issued for a first offense. Second, and each subsequent time results in escalating fines for each offense up to $500, water service disconnection, as well as prosecution, according to The Cobb County Water System office.
