Northeast Cobb Road Work Update

The following information was provided by District 3 Cobb Commissioner JoAnn Birrell: 

Shiloh Road at Shallowford Road Construction
Shallowford Road at Noonday Creek Park will be closed through July 27. Signed detour routes will be provided during construction.

• Wade Green Road to Canton Road – through Friday, July 26 The contractor will primarily be working within the road closure section. Water main installation, placing sidewalk, installing guardrail and utility relocations will continue.

New Chastain Road Westbound Bridge Replacement
The replacement of the westbound bridge on New Chastain Road over Noonday Creek will result in closing the westbound lanes for four months, or longer, beginning this summer. Westbound traffic will be detoured to the eastbound bridge, which will provide one lane in each direction during construction. 

• New Chastain Road over Noonday Creek – Monday, July 22 through Friday, July 26. Contractor will continue bridge demolition, drilling pilot holes and utility relocations. EXPECT DELAYS

Steinhauer Road at Rocky Mountain Road Sidewalks

• Shallowford Road to Rocky Mountain Road -- Monday through Friday:  Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open at all times. Contractor will continue grading activities, placing concrete curb and sidewalk, and utility relocations.

Road Resurfacing
Asphalt paving operations - which include lane closures though one lane will remain open at all times - are scheduled next week, Monday, July 22 through Friday, July 26, on the following road: EXPECT DELAYS

• Piedmont Road from Bells Ferry Road to Canton Road

Canton Road Bridge over US41 (N. Cobb Pkwy) –GDOT
Georgia DOT continues work on the new Canton Rd. Bridge over Cobb Pkwy. The contractor anticipates closing Canton Road on Aug. 15 for 30 days. This project is scheduled to be completed in March 2014.

Skip Spann Connector (Busbee-Frey Connector)
This proposed project is a new bridge over Interstate 75 that connects Frey Road to Busbee Drive just north of Chastain Road. A roundabout is proposed at the intersection of the Skip Spann Connector and Busbee Drive.

Debris removal continues

Cobb DOT has been working since June 13 to remove debris from storms and a tornado that struck the county. As of July 12 we have received 1,708 requests for removal and have completed 590. We remain committed to getting all the debris collected and appreciate the community's support for our Cobb DOT Team. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work together to remove the debris throughout Cobb.
