Northeast Cobb Road Work Update

The following information was provided by the office of District 3 Cobb Commissioner JoAnn Birrell:

Shiloh Road at Shallowford Road Construction
Shallowford Road at Noonday Creek Park opened to traffic Friday, July 26.

• Wade Green Road to Canton Road – through Friday, Aug. 2. Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. with one lane open while the contractor installs storm drainage, curb & gutter, water main, and utilities.

New Chastain Road Westbound Bridge Replacement
The replacement of the westbound bridge on New Chastain Road over Noonday Creek will result in closing the westbound lanes for four months, or longer, beginning this summer. Westbound traffic will be detoured to the eastbound bridge, which will provide one lane in each direction during construction.

• New Chastain Road over Noonday Creek – Monday, July 29 through Friday, August 2. Contractor will continue drilling pilot holes and driving piles. EXPECT DELAYS

Steinhauer Road at Rocky Mountain Road Sidewalks

• Shallowford Road to Rocky Mountain Road - Monday through Friday. Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open at all times. Contractor will continue grading activities, storm drainage, placing concrete curb and sidewalk, and utility relocations.

Timber Ridge Road Sidewalks Construction
Project consists of installing sidewalk on the north side of Timber Ridge Road.  A pedestrian bridge will also be installed as part of the project over Timber Ridge Branch. 

• Jacksons Creek Bluff to Lower Roswell Road - Monday through Friday. The contractor will continue grading, sidewalk construction and concrete work for pedestrian bridge.

Road Resurfacing
Asphalt paving operations - which include lane closures though one lane will remain open at all times - are **scheduled next week, Monday, July 29 through Friday, Aug. 2, on the following road: EXPECT DELAYS

• Bells Ferry Road from Cobb Pkwy to I-575 Bridge
• Night Work – Piedmont Road from Bells Ferry Road to Canton Road

 ** The above scheduled work is subject to change due to weather or construction progress.

Canton Road Bridge over US41 (N. Cobb Pkwy) –GDOT
Georgia DOT continues work on the new Canton Rd. Bridge over Cobb Pkwy. The contractor anticipates closing Canton Road on Aug. 15 for 30 days. This project is scheduled to be completed in March 2014.
