Northeast Cobb Road Work Update

The following information was provided by the office of District 3 Cobb Commissioner JoAnn Birrell:

• Shiloh and Shallowford Road from Wade Green Road to Canton Road –Monday, Aug. 19 through Friday, Aug. 23. Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. with one lane open while the contractor installs storm drainage, curb & gutter, sidewalk, water main and utilities.
• Wade Green Road from Shiloh Road to I-75 ramps – Monday, Aug. 19 through Friday, Aug. 23. Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. with one lane open while the contractor removes the concrete median and begins placing concrete curb.

• New Chastain Road over Noonday Creek – Saturday, Aug. 17 through Friday, Aug. 23. Contractor will continue placing concrete substructure and begin setting beams. EXPECT DELAYS

• Tanbark Place to Blackwell Road - Monday, Aug. 19 through Friday, Aug. 23. Contractor will continue clearing and begin water line and storm drainage installation.

• Shallowford Road to Rocky Mountain Road - Monday, Aug. 19 through Friday, Aug. 23. Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open at all times. Project is substantially complete. Contractor will be working on punchlist items and utility relocations.

Timber Ridge Road Sidewalks Construction
Project consists of installing sidewalk on the north side of Timber Ridge Road.  A pedestrian bridge over Timber Ridge Branch is included as part of the project. The pedestrian bridge at Timber Ridge is almost ready for use.  Construction will be completed very soon. The contractor is not planning to work this weekend, Aug. 17-18.

• Jacksons Creek Bluff to Lower Roswell Road - Monday, Aug. 19 through Friday, Aug. 23. Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open at all times. The contractor will continue grading, storm drainage, and concrete work.

• Bells Ferry Road from Cobb Pkwy to I-575 Bridge
• Night Work – Piedmont Road from Bells Ferry Road to Canton Road

Canton Road Bridge construction
Beginning Sept. 1, Canton Road between Sawyer Road and the ramp to Cobb Parkway will be closed for approximately 30 days (weather permitting). 

The closure is to replace the Canton Road bridge and also the rail road bridge over U.S.41 / SR 3. This project will also realign Industrial Park Drive and Elizabeth Street to make intersection improvements.

Skip Spann Connector (Busbee-Frey Connector)
This proposed project is a new bridge over Interstate 75 that connects Frey Road to Busbee Drive just north of Chastain Road. A roundabout is proposed at the intersection of the Skip Spann Connector and Busbee Drive.


Construction update from GDOT - road work on SR 120 ALT
GDOT started road resurfacing on the North Loop. This work is planned each weekend, weather permitting, through October. The first two weekends will involve asphalt placement. The other weekends will focus on concrete slab replacement under the I-75 overpass.
