North Marietta Parkway Closures Continue

The following road construction update in the East Cobb and Northeast Cobb areas was released Friday by District 3 Cobb Commissioner JoAnn Birrell:

Construction update from GDOT - road work on North Marietta Parkway 

Road closure on North Marietta Parkway between Wallace Road and Cobb Parkway until 5 a.m., Monday, Oct. 21. This GDOT project is to replace the concrete slabs under the I-75 overpass and will include the closure of both I-75 ramps. This road closure will also take place the next three subsequent weekends, Oct. 25, and Nov. 1.

Shiloh Road at Shallowford Road Construction
The contractor is planning to work this weekend, Oct. 19-20.

• Shiloh/Shallowford Road from Wade Green Road to Canton Road - Monday, Oct. 14 through Friday, Oct. 18. Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. with one lane open while the contractor continues grading, installing storm drainage, concrete curb and utilities relocating services. EXPECT DELAYS

• New Chastain Road over Noonday Creek - Monday, Oct. 21 through Friday, Oct. 25. New Chastain Road is open to traffic - two lanes in each direction. The project is substantially complete and contractor will begin punchlist work.

• Tanbark Place to Blackwell Road - Monday, Oct. 21 through Friday, Oct. 25. Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. with one lane open while the contractor continues grading operations and placing concrete curb and sidewalk.

Old Sewell Road Sidewalks Construction
The contractor is planning to work Saturday, Oct. 19 installing storm drainage with lane closures. The contractor is not planning to work Sunday, Oct. 20.

Holt Road to Old Canton Road - Monday, Oct. 21 through Friday, Oct. 25
Contractor will continue wall construction, installing storm drainage, and water main. Utilities will be relocating services.


Road Resurfacing**
Asphalt paving operations - which include lane closures though one lane will remain open at all times - are **scheduled next week, (Saturday, Oct. 19 and Monday, Oct. 21 through Friday, Oct. 25), on the following road: EXPECT DELAYS

• Bells Ferry Road from Cobb Parkway to I-575 Bridge
• Sewell Mill Road from Roswell Road to Johnson Ferry Road

Mowing schedule for upcoming week*

Sidewalk crews will commence operations on Tuesday, Oct. 22. It is likely that the crew will commence operations in the northeast corner of area 3 and will move south and west towards Roswell Road and area 2.

Skip Spann Connector (Busbee-Frey Connector)
This proposed project is a new bridge over Interstate 75 that connects Frey Road to Busbee Drive just north of Chastain Road. A roundabout is proposed at the intersection of the Skip Spann Connector and Busbee Drive. For more, visit http://tinyurl.com/d6fuhbj

Providence Road to Robinson Road - Periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. - 
4 p.m. with one lane remaining open in each direction at all times.
