Marietta Recycling Attempts Compliance

The city cited the Marietta Recycling Center on Marble Mill Road with a violation of its noise ordinance May 18.

First failed to win Cobb County approval to establish a metal scrap yard and transfer station in Northeast Cobb, and then was cited May 18 for exceeding the noise level permitted under Marietta city code.

The city's zoning director, Rusty Roth, said at the June 15 court hearing the judge agreed to a non-jury trial on Wednesday, August 10, unless compliance can be accomplished in three weeks.

"The property owners have hired an acoustic engineer to work out a solution to reduce the sound level. They may be able to comply in three weeks," Roth said.

If the Marietta Recycling Center on Marble Mill Road does not comply, the city's noise ordinance provides for fines up to $1,000.

Meanwhile, Marietta Recycling has until mid-September to cease operations at its Northeast Cobb facility off Canton Road near Shallowford Road after the county Board of Commissioners May 17. That decision followed the and the .
