Cobb Creates New Website to Boost Redevelopment

Cobb County's community development agency will soon launch a searchable online database of all available developments in the county.

Cobb County’s community development agency will soon be launching an online database of all the available developments in Cobb County. Dana Johnson, planning division manager, said this searchable redevelopment inventory website will make it easy for interested developers to see the locations offered in Cobb County.

“We’ve been working on this website because usually we’re planners and we create nice books and they look great and then no one ever reads them,” he said. “They’re not used by the people we’re trying to get them too.”

The website, which Johnson said should launch in March, allows future developers to sort Cobb County’s entire development inventory by location, size, zoning or available incentives. The website will also contain links to other pertinent sites like Cobb County’s community development agency and Georgia Department of Transportation.

Johnson said his department is currently in talks with some of the city development agencies in Cobb County to get their listings added to the site as well. Once live, the inventory database will be accessible through the community development agency website.

District 3 commissioner JoAnn Birrell said the newly formed Canton Road corridor committee will launch after the county completes its redevelopment website. The committee and website are part of her marketing strategy to draw investment to the corridor.
