Cobb Commissioners to Examine Fiscal Picture

An outside audit firm has looked at the county's finances and will present its findings this morning.

The Cobb County commissioners will examine the county's fiscal 2010 numbers in a Tuesday meeting that was postponed from last week because of the winter storm.

Chairman Tim Lee said he has seen the audit and is pleased with the results, according to the Marietta Daily Journal.

"We made all of our financial obligations, the budget was balanced, we were able to keep our reserves intact, able to keep everything intact that we set out to do at the beginning of the year," Lee said.

"We didn't have to increase any costs, lay anybody off, create any furlough days, and we substantially cut expenditures, to end up with a balanced budget. And we came out with a very tiny surplus, less than $30,000."

The meeting begins at 10 a.m. on the second floor of the government building at 100 Cherokee St. in Marietta.
