Last week, Cobb Commission chairman Tim Lee proposed a $744.6 million budget that includes a slight property tax decrease and performance-based pay raises for county employees (see attached PDF).
Among the points of contention is Lee's proposal to transfer $18 million from the Cobb water fund to the general fund. That move has long been opposed by East Cobb Commissioner Bob Ott, who renewed his complaint at last week's budget presentation, according to the MDJ.
Lee said the transfer is needed to avoid raising property tax rates or reducing services.
The commissioners are scheduled to adopt the budget next Tuesday, Sept. 10.
