Animal Worker's Appeal Hearing Postponed

Cindy Ganues, an animal care specialist with , is appealing a reported 40-hour suspension for removing euthanasia-bound cats from the county shelter during her days off.

Her appeal, scheduled to be heard by the Civil Service Board on Monday, has been postponed.

"I wanted to let you know that the civil service hearing schedule for
Monday has been continued. This is being done with the consent of both
the county and the employee. A new date has not been set as of this
email," County spokesman Robert Quigley told Northeast Cobb Patch in a statement Thursday.

"The new date is January 17," Ganues' attorney Constance McManus said during a Friday telephone interview. "We look forward to the hearing."

The five-member Civil Service Board will hear Ganues’ case Jan. 17 at 6 p.m. at the at 100 Cherokee St. off Marietta Square.
