Two Handguns Stolen from Unlocked Vehicles

Car break-ins and copper theft dominate this week's Cobb County Precinct 1 and 4 police blotter.

Cobb County Precinct 1 Updated Feb. 16

Feb. 15, 9:47 a.m. Air conditioning units were stolen from Grace Church at Town Center located at Hidden Forest Ct. The units were not visible from the road. They were enclosed inside a brick wall with wooden door that was not locked or latched. There are four units in this enclosed area. The offenders removed the two oldest and largest units, and left two units.

Jan. 15 - Feb. 15, 3 p.m. Copper was stolen from a Metro PCS cell tower located on Bells Ferry Rd. The cell tower is surrounded by a gate that was not damaged in the process. There are no known suspects or witnesses at the time of this report.

Feb. 13, 8:30 p.m. A victim residing on Lakebrooke Drive found his back French door was kicked in. The other French door was unlocked. The television was stolen. A neighbor saw a white van and three men by the pool area. She thought the van was suspicious.

Feb. 12, 1:30 p.m. A victim was shopping at the Kroger on Canton Road when she left her cell phone at the counter. Upon realizing that she left her phone, she spoke to the store manager who checked the surveillance video and observed two suspects take her cell phone.

Feb. 12, 3 p.m. - Feb. 14, 9 a.m. The Bank of America located on Bells Ferry Road had its drive through ATM machine damaged. The levers had been manipulated by the suspect. The suspect pried open the double doors on the machine to reach the levers.A small circuit board was torn from the main housing of this unit. This piece of circuit board was lying in the driveway assigned to the machine. The machine was damaged sometime after the bank closed on Saturday and before it opened the next morning.

Feb. 13, 12:50 a.m. The owner of Dorton Jewelry store, located on Canton Road,  reported that he had a video camera system and could see a male, later identified as Russell, at the back of his business. Witness feared the male was about to break into the store. Dorton was able provide a description of suspect and his vehicle which was parked behind the closed business. Officer arrived on scene and saw suspect leaving the property in a Lexus IS300. He initiated a traffic stop, and began loitering and prowling investigations, which lead to the arrest of the suspect.

Feb. 10. Unknown suspects broke a pane of glass on a door leading from the carport into the kitchen of an unoccupied house on Crawford Circle, recently listed for sale. The only item stolen was an older laptop computer (unknown make/model/serial number) that had been left as decoration.

Sept. 1 - Feb. 8. A victim's storage unit located at Kennestone Circle had been accessed by unknown persons and "nine boxes of items" missing. The victim had not been back to his storage unit in six months. In Nov. 2010 he was late on his payment and Public Storage had cut his lock and replaced it with their's. When he arrived Feb. 8 he said that the lock was still on and he "knows" that whatever Public Storage employee changed his lock took his nine boxes of misc items in November.

Feb. 7, 1:22 p.m. There was an attempted auto theft at Three-13 Beauty Salon on Canton Rd. The victim came out to her vehicle and witnessed a white male sitting in her car. The unknown subject saw her and ran west on Dozier Rd. The unknown male was described as white, approximately 5' 10", medium build, wearing a black hoody with the hood up, jeans and white shoes. Victim witnessed the white male grab a black book bag off of her passenger seat that did not belong to her. As the male got up to run, he dropped some kind of tool and then stopped to pick it up before running off. She saw the male bent over under the dashboard like he was attempting to hot wire the vehicle.

Cobb County Precinct 4 Updated Feb. 21

Feb. 19, 3:15 a.m. A car parked on Bridge Mill Drive had its window smashed. The car alarm scared off the perpetrator. Nothing was taken.

Feb. 14, 12 p.m. - Feb. 15, 4 p.m. Four air conditioning units were stolen from a vacant business located at 2515 East Piedmont Road.

Feb. 17, 9 a.m. - 9:05 p.m. Entry was made into a Rosemoore Walk home by shattering the rear door. Costume jewelry was taken from an upstairs bedroom.  Televisions, computers, and a $50 bill in plain view were all left behind. 

Feb. 17, 3 p.m. The front door of the abandoned AMF Lanes located at 2692 Sandy Plains Rd. was smashed open with a large rock. Juveniles were reported loitering in the area.

Feb. 14, 11 p.m. - Feb. 15, 3:30 p.m. A vacant building located at 2962 Sandy Plains Road was forcibly entered and the copper wiring and pipes were taken.

Feb. 11, 12 p.m. - Feb. 15, 12 p.m. A vehicle parked on Falcon Woods Trail was forcibly entered. A Glock 23 handgun and a pair of Costa del Mar Fathom sunglasses were taken.

Feb. 13, 12 p.m. - Feb. 15, 5:40 p.m. Metro Christian Outreach located at 1588 Willie Drive had its air conditioning units destroyed when the copper was stripped from them.

Feb. 10, 11:30 p.m. - 11:35 p.m. The front door of JJ Donnys located at 4674 Sandy Plains Road had been pried open. Cash was taken from the register.

Feb. 1, 7 a.m. - Feb. 14, 7:15 p.m. Several items of jewelry were taken from a residence located on Forest Chase Drive. No signs of forced entry.

Feb. 13, 3:19 a.m. - Feb. 14, 8:45 a.m. The front door of Health and Beauty Supply located at 2800 Canton Road was shattered. Numerous packages of hair weaves were taken.

Feb. 12, 9:30 p.m. - Feb. 13, 11:30 a.m. An unlocked vehicle parked at Oak Springs Drive was entered. Nothing was taken.

Feb. 12, 8 p.m. - Feb. 13, 9:15 a.m. Two unlocked vehicles parked on Oak Springs Court were entered. A watch and Fluke Multi Meter tool were taken. 

Jan. 15, 12 p.m. - Feb. 8, 12 p.m. A handgun was taken from an unlocked vehicle parked at Cedar Drive.

Feb. 11, 12 p.m. - Feb. 12, 5:45 p.m. GA tag AXB1105 was stolen off a vehicle parked at Autumn Ridge Parkway.

Jan. 31, 12 p.m. - Feb. 14, 5 p.m. The air conditioning unit was stolen from a vacant residence on Garden Circle.

Feb. 12, 6:23 p.m. - 6:41 p.m. A male entered an unlocked garage at a residence on Keheley Road but was scared off by the homeowner. Not known if anything was taken. 

Feb. 12, 8:30 a.m. - 9:15 p.m. Forced entry was made through the sliding glass door of a Whitehall Drive residence. Jewelry was taken.

Feb. 11, 6:35 p.m. - 8:21 p.m. Forced entry was made through the garage door of a Broward Drive residence. It is unknown if anything was taken.

Feb. 13, 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. By unknown means a van parked on Sandy Plains Road was entered and a silver Dell laptop was taken.

Feb. 11, 3:35 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. The window was smashed of a vehicle parked at The Park 12 Cobb Cinema located at 2925 Gordy Parkway. A briefcase and Cannon camera were taken.

Feb. 9, 10 p.m. - Feb. 10, 7:15 a.m. An unlocked vehicle on Stoneridge Drive was  entered and a GPS taken.

Jan. 25, 2 p.m. - Feb. 10, 7 p.m. Between the listed dates, the victim’s wallet was stolen from property on Millhouse Landing. It was recovered minus his license and a gift card.

Feb. 11, 6 p.m. - Feb. 12, 10 a.m. Several picnic tables at Woodbine Station on Pebble Hill Drive were overturned and damaged. This is the second incident this month.
