Police Seek Copper Theft Suspect

The Marietta Police Department's Copperhead Metal Task Force has secured arrest warrants for two men suspected of burglary at a vacant Cobb Industrial Drive warehouse on Nov. 28.

The Copperhead Metal Task Force have secured arrest warrants for two men suspected of burglary at a vacant Cobb Industrial Drive warehouse on Nov. 28 at 1:30 p.m.

On Nov. 28, police officers responded to the vacant warehouse on Cobb Industrial Drive for a report of a possible burglary-in-progress. A witness stated they observed a man walk from behind the vacant warehouse and place possible copper wiring in the back of a Nissan truck. The suspect vehicle had left the scene prior to the officers' arrival.

Evidence collected at the scene led to the identification of two suspects: Jay Douglas Trantham, 24, and Louis Anthony Lopez, 24, both of Marietta. Trantham was arrested on Dec. 2. His vehicle, a red Nissan Pathfinder, was confiscated. At least two more counts of burglary are still pending against Trantham who is being held without bond at the .
