Police On Scene of Officer Involved Shooting

The incident occurred near Five Forks Trickum Rd in Lawrenceville, Ga.


Gwinnett County Police are currently on the scene of an officer involved shooting at 556 Trophy Trail. GCPD's Cpl. Jake Smith says officers responded to a call of a person reportedly trying to commit suicide. When police arrived, they found the suspect was armed. Officers tried to negotiate with the man, but he refused and police were forced to shoot him.

The identity of the man is being withheld until the next of kin is notified.

UPDATE 8:00PM - Cpl. Smith reports no officers were injured in the shooting.

Lmao. The reporter could have done a better job writing this news report. "man was going to kill himself with a gun so when the police had no luck stopping him they shot and killed him". Too funny. Why not add in the story that the armed man pointed his gun at the officer, and to keep from being shot by the armed man the officer in defending himself shot and killed the man. That is probably how it went down. Just sayin

Dewman, you're right. That may be what happened, but all I have to go on is what I get confirmed from the police and other reliable sources. I cannot add things that are not confirmed. In my experience with similar stories, often times the gunman was pointing the gun at the officer, but as a journalist, I cannot just assume that. When I get more details, I will update the story. Thank you for your input however.

he wanted to kill himself and da officers jus wanted to help him out taking him alive with heavy beanbag gunfire from officers or the use of a taser would jus prolong this guys misery . thanks gwinnet place keep up the fine work!
