Operation Targets Child Porn Suspects

Several Cobb agencies are participating in "the largest operation of its kind in Georgia" conducted by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the spokesman for the GBI said this afternoon.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and the Cobb County Police Department is one of 47 federal, state and local agencies that will execute search warrants today against people suspected of distributing child porn over the Internet.

During a three-month investigation that began in January, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force identified 98 suspects who distributed child porn over the Internet, GBI spokesman John Bankhead said this afternoon.

Those suspects are the targets of today's operation, known as Operation Guarding Innocence.
