Neighbor Interrupts AC Unit Theft Attempt

Cobb County Precinct 1 Updated Feb. 24

Feb. 22. The victim had something thrown at his vehicle while driving on Piedmont Rd. He stopped and gave chase to two subjects that had thrown the item. He caught one and held him until police arrival. The subject was arrested.

Feb. 21, 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Unknown suspect(s) attempted to gain entry at a residence on Dover Street via the front door. The suspect(s) used force to damage the front door, but that they did not gain entry to the residence. The dead bolt was still extended and secured the door.

Feb. 21, 2:20 a.m. Officers were dispatched to 4300 Bells Ferry Road in reference to a suspicious person. When they arrived on the scene they met with the complainant who advised that as he pulled up to the bank he saw a black male in a black hooded sweatshirt. He advised that the male ran into the woods surrounding the bank. Officers checked the woods and the area behind the bank but were unable to locate anyone.

Feb. 18, 8 p.m. - 10 p.m. Suspect(s) entered a Shiloh Valley Trail home through the rear glass door and stole jewelry from the victim's bedroom. There was a large bag of potting soil on the back patio that appeared to have been used to break the rear glass door. The rear door was still locked via a dead bolt indicating that the suspect(s) entered through the hole in the glass.

Feb. 10 - Feb. 18, 10:02 a.m. The license plate BKS1969 belonging on a Chrysler Voyager was stolen while parked behind Speed Emissions Inc. on Canton Road.

Feb. 18, 10:42 a.m. A white male was seen stealing an AC unit from an adjacent property on Blackwell Lane. The witness heard the engine running to a 2000 model red Ford F-150 next door when he walked over to see who was at the vacant house. The witness told the suspect to put the AC unit back as the suspect was propping it up onto the trailer attached to the F-150. The suspect vehicle was further described as having a honeycomb grill and possibly a brush guard. The trailer was described as having an engine joist attached with a wood bed. The suspect replaced the AC unit and then fled the scene southbound on Canton Rd.

Feb. 18 - Feb. 19, 8 a.m. A resident living on Big Shanty Trail drove her vehicle, a tan 1995 Honda Accord, the night before to a Taco Bell to pick up her brother from work. She then returned home and parked her vehicle in the driveway at approximately 10:30 p.m. When she came back outside the next morning, she discovered that unknown persons had stolen her vehicle.

Feb. 17, 6:30 p.m. - 8:15 p.m. The victim's white 2006 Chevrolet Suburban had been broken into while parked at Bells Ferry Park on Bells Ferry Road. The front driver's side window had been broken out. Her purse was taken from the front passenger's side floor board.

Feb. 17, 11:30 p.m. Officers did an excellent job during a Cobb Parkway traffic stop. Both subjects provided false names and were arrested. During the investigation marijuana was located and seized. Several other suspicious items were also confiscated from the car and put into evidence. The investigation is ongoing.

Feb. 9, 8:30 p.m. - Feb. 16, 8:30 p.m. Jewelry was reported missing from a Kerry Creek Drive residence. 

Feb. 25, 10:30 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. The victim’s locker was broken into and credit cards taken at the YMCA located at 3010 Johnson Ferry Road.

Feb. 24, 7 p.m. - Feb. 25, 6:50 a.m. A metal exhaust vent was broken off C.K. Cleaners located on Canton Road.

Feb. 22, 5:45 p.m. - Feb. 23, 7:13 a.m. A window on a Victorian Court home was shattered but nothing taken. 

Feb. 22, 3 p.m. - Feb. 23, 9:03 a.m. The window of a Preswick Drive home was shattered but nothing taken.

 

Feb. 23, 9 a.m. - 9:40 a.m. The window of a Windsor Oaks Court home was shattered but nothing taken.

Feb. 12, 4 a.m. - 4:30 a.m. An unknown offender took the victim’s iPod at a residence on Regas Drive.

 

Feb. 16, 7:30 p.m. A suspect smashed the back glass door to an Eastbrooke Trace residence in an attempt to gain entry but ran off when he realized the homeowner was home.

 

Feb. 23, 1:05 a.m. - 1:17 a.m. The window of a vehicle parked on Kemp Road was smashed. A Tom Tom GPS and charger, phone charger, and glasses were taken.

 

Feb. 14, 3 p.m. - Feb. 22, 4 p.m. The AC unit had been stripped at a vacant business located at 2692 Sandy Plains Road.

 

Feb. 21, 10 a.m. - 5:18 p.m. The resident arrived at their Lost Creek Lane home and found the front door open. Nothing was missing and it is not known if the home was entered.

 

Feb. 15, 3 p.m. - Feb. 19, 1 p.m. Copper etchings were stolen from a detached garage at a Pebble Hill Drive property. The handyman is suspected.

Feb. 17, 2:45 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. The glass was broken to a rear door at a Whitehall Drive property. Costume jewelry and small electronics were taken.

Feb. 2, 12:06 p.m. - Feb. 11, 1:43 p.m. A computer delivered by UPS  was stolen from the front porch of an Arbor Glen Place home, as well as the replacement.

 

Feb. 20, 4:59 p.m. - 6 p.m. A customer drove off with four new Bridgestone All terrain tires without paying at a 1340 Brookfield Drive garage. Officer Jegg located the vehicle on Old Canton Road. The driver was taken into custody and charged with Theft of Services and Theft of Mislaid Property.  

 Feb. 13, 2 p.m. - Feb. 20, 10:30 a.m. Two AC units at Liberty Hill Baptist Church located at 1053 Liberty Hill Road were stolen and a third was damaged while removing the copper.
