Motorcyclist Seriously Injured on I-75
A truck's blown tire led a 74-year-old man to swerve and crash at the Allgood Road bridge.
A 74-year-old man was seriously injured Saturday afternoon in a multivehicle crash on Interstate 75 in Marietta.
The accident started when a landscaping truck traveling north on I-75 at the Allgood Road bridge blew a tire at 1:48 p.m., according to a press release from Officer David Baldwin.
Roy Hendrix of Jasper swerved to avoid the tire debris in the lane ahead of him, lost control of his silver 2009 Honda Goldwing motorcycle and crashed.

That vehicle was a pickup truck pulling a trailer, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which said a third truck hit the motorcycle but not Hendrix.
The wreck and the resulting investigation shut down a couple of northbound lanes and backed up traffic on I-75 to Interstate 285 and the Cumberland Mall area for more than two hours.
Baldwin said the investigation by the department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program is continuing, but no charges are expected against any drivers.
Anyone with information about the wreck is asked to call Officer Geoff Culpepper at 770-794-5357.
