Donations Needed for Police Dogs

Cobb County Police are asking for donations to purchase two police dogs.

The Cobb County Police Department's K-9 Unit is a vital part of its efforts to protect the community. Police dogs perform a broad range of essential functions, including patrol activities, and narcotic and bomb detection.

At a town hall meeting last week, Commissioner JoAnn Birrell announced that a Cobb police dog recently retired. The police department is asking for donations to replace him and purchase a sixth dog, she said.

Donations to aid in the operation of the K-9 Unit go directly to help replace retired canines, pay for veterinarian expenses, and other costs associated with the dogs' well-being.
