Coach Arrested, Charged with Sexual Assault of Minor

A Marietta coach/trainer was arrested for multiple sexual assaults against a minor at his office at the Champion Softball Complex over a two-year time frame.

Isuru Pasan Perera, 31, of Marietta was arrested for multiple sexual offenses against a minor.

Perera was taken into custody without incident on Saturday, Sept. 8, and is being held without bond at the Cobb County Jail, according to.
 
The original incident occurred in June of 2010 when the female juvenile victim attended the Champion Softball Complex located at 505 Commerce Park Drive, according to Marietta Police. 

Perera, who was the victim’s coach/trainer, used his position to "coerce and intimidate the victim to commit multiple sexual acts against her," Police said. Numerous sexual assaults occurred over a two-year time frame. Every assault occurred in Perera’s office at the complex, Police said.

Perera is being charged with cruelty to children (1st degree), aggravated sodomy, sexual battery, aggravated sexual battery, computer pornography and distribution of obscene material.

The Marietta Police Department is concerned there may be other unreported victims of Perera and wants anyone with information to contact Detective Moeller at 770-794-2366.
