St. Andrew UMC Yard Sale and Car Wash

St. Andrew United Methodist Church of Marietta invites everyone to a yard sale and car wash fundraiser on Saturday, April 14, 2012.

“All proceeds from the yard sale and car wash will benefit the Missions of St. Andrew United Methodist Church,” said Lisa Springer, director of youth ministries at St. Andrew UMC.

“The St. Andrew Youth House yard will be full of household items, furniture, clothes and other treasures – all at great bargain prices,” she added. “The Yard Sale will be going on from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.”

The church youth will also be washing cars at St. Andrew from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. to raise money for the church’s missions.

“This summer, St. Andrew UMC’s Youth Ministry will send almost 100 people to Tybee Island near Savannah, GA; Montgomery, AL; Jackson, MS; and mountains of Appalachia on mission trips to serve in those communities,” Springer said.

St. Andrew United Methodist Church is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2012. Founded in April 1962 by a small group of dedicated Methodists who originally met at Blackwell School, St. Andrew United Methodist Church takes pride in being a family of caring, nurturing followers of Jesus Christ who welcome all those seeking to know and grow in God’s service.

Church founders chose the name St. Andrew because the apostle Andrew is considered a “do-er,” doing the work of the Lord. The first sanctuary, completed in 1964, is now our Community Room. Today, our church family has grown to include more than 350 families dedicated to doing the work of the Lord. Church members accomplish this through various ministries in which we hope all members of our congregation will become involved.

St. Andrew UMC’s congregation includes residents of Marietta, Kennesaw, and other communities in northern Cobb County, as well as residents of Woodstock, Towne Lake, and other communities in southern Cherokee County.
