Parker is the Pet of the Week at the Cobb County Animal Shelter

We are never too old to love and be loved!

May I introduce you to Parker, a ‘long time’ resident at Cobb Animal control.
He was picked up as a stray boy on 2/15, the day after Valentines day and nobody came to find him there. The staff and volunteers simply adore him!

A lot of people walk through the shelter every day and with a couple hundred dogs and cats, the selection process can be intimidating, exhausting or downright overwhelming. There are the dogs that bark and jump up and down in their runs because they want to say ‘ pick me me me’, there are the other kinds that lay curled up on their beds because they are unsure of how they got here and then there are Parker’s kind….waiting quietly in their runs, watching everybody going by and just HOPING that the person will stop and take a second look. Because if they do, they will see what a precious new companion they are looking at!
Parker’s white muzzle indicates that he has entered the ‘golden years’, and the staff is guessing for him to be about 9 or 10 years old. He is a happy boy and can’t wait to be taken outside (which, unfortunately only happens about once on most days). He is VERY HOUSEBROKEN and immediately goes potty when given the chance. He loves to play with toys and entertains himself very well. Parker is not looking for a high energetic family. He will be perfectly happy with walks or hikes (he does well on a leash), visits to the park or dog park and will be fine just chilling with his new owner. He has a lot of love to give and would like nothing more than be given a second chance….He is a so called ‘mutt’, a mixture of probably some shepherd and chow. Cute as can be!
He weighs around 60lbs and he is waiting in run 47. His ID# is 563553

Parker is a SWEET OLDER MAN, CALM, WELL BEHAVED and has a BIG SMILEY FACE. He patiently waits to be taken outside and is very appreciative to be given the chance to go potty because he is HOUSEBROKEN! He sits and stays when told and walks well on a leash. He also LOVES OTHER DOGS. Parker is about 9- 10 year old 60 pound Chow/Shepherd mix. He came to the shelter as a lost/stray on February 15th and was not reclaimed...what a shame because this boy would like nothing more than a home where he can lay in the sun, go for walks, visit a park maybe and be with somebody to love. HE HAS SO MUCH LOVE TO GIVE and will make a WONDERFUL and LOYAL COMPANION. He is up to date with shots and will be neutered, heartworm tested, and micro-chipped upon adoption. Parker is in cage 47 and his ID is 563553.

When calling the shelter about a cat or dog, please use THE ID NUMBER, the names are oftentimes made up by volunteers.
