Sept. 11 Is Not a Day of Mourning

As we overcome the emotions of this day we think of the future of freedom as we know it. Let us resolve that we will not allow this evil force, which has crossed our borders, put us down.

This should be a day to renew our resolve to resist the evil force unleashed against us.

We remember with deep pain the evil that came upon us on September 11, 2001. This memory should be kept alive to remind us of the potential this evil force, which has been unleashed against us, has. This is not just a physical force but also a spiritual and theological one. Our defense against it cannot only be of physical nature. We must also defend ourselves spiritually and theologically. We need Christ's power and wisdom to face what is looming ahead of us. What helped the Christians of the Middle East survive for the last 1400 years at the hands of people like those who attacked us on 9/11 has been their Faith in Christ and their hope in the Resurrection.

This day should not be a day of mourning, but rather a day of resurrection. Just like the Freedom tower rises from the ashes of the Twin Towers, so we will together rise to stand up to the evil force that confronts us, with God's help and wisdom.Β

This day should be a day of resolve that we will not give in to evil, but looking in the faces of our children we should provide for them that hope they need for a future where they will be able to live and worship God in freedom.Β
