The curtain rises to the revelry of spirited dance, incredible costumes and lively characters. Before you know it, you are whisked away to Toyland. Mother Goose characters come to life, gingerbread cookies frolic, and toy soldiers march in fabulous formation.
Families of all ages will delight in this original and interactive dance production, based on the Victor Herbert operetta and choreographed by Jonnie Kelley and the late Jorge Guevara. “Babes In Toyland” showcases the talents of more than 70 dancers and actors, and features appearances from Atlanta Workshop Players.
The audience cheers for Mary Quite Contrary and her friends as they search for Bo Peep’s lost sheep. Boos and hisses accompany the exploitation of the evil Barnaby and his cohorts. Their adventures take them from Mother Goose Village through the enchanted Spider Forest and, finally, to Toyland. Join us at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center to find out if Bo Peep and her sheep will be reunited, and if goodness will prevail. Artistic Director, Jonnie Kelley, invites you to bring your friends and family to enjoy!
