Weird News: Slowest Jailbreak in History

Need relief from breaking news and TSPLOST? Enjoy some silly news from Cobb County and the rest of Georgia.

A Summerville (Chattooga County) man is taking on the role of distressed prison warden after vandals allegedly cut down some fences enclosing his turtle farm.

According to the Associated Press, some 1,600 of David Driver's 2,200 turtles have managed to slowly escape the farm and "bolt" to other watering holes such as creeks and ponds.

Sheriff's deputies are searching for the escapees. If you will be driving through the Summerville area, please remember that hitchhiking turtles may be escaped turtle convicts.

In Other News...

The recent heat wave that had the Southeast in its grip caused some people to do some very weird things.

Cobb County resident Marvin Dwayne Bolick, 51, was arrested on July 1 after he was spotted with his pants pulled down at the McDonald's at US 41 and Bells Ferry Road in Marietta.

According to the warrant acquired by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the arresting officer asked the man why he was exposing himself in public. Bolick, "advised that it was hot."

It was over 100 degrees that Sunday, but very few if any other Cobb residents were walking around sans pants.
